Rohit Sharma's much-anticipated return to Mumbai in IPL 2024 didn't go as he would liked it to as he was out for a golden duck against the Rajasthan Royals on Monday.

The crowd at the Wankhede stadium came out in huge numbers to watch Rohit put on the Hitman mode but as an anti-climax, Trent Boult removed him in the very first over.

Rohit also made an unwanted record with that dismissal as it was the 17th duck in the IPL for the former Mumbai Indians skipper. It's now the joint-most score of nought along with Dinesh Karthik in the cash-rich league.

Piyush Chawla, Mandeep Singh, Glenn Maxwell and Sunil Narine are 2nd on the list with 16 ducks each.

Rohit has failed to impress in the IPL for a few seasons now. He averaged just 20.7 and 19.1 in the last two seasons respectively. The 36-year-old had scored 43 and 26 in the first two games this season, before getting out for a golden duck on Monday.
