As Shreyas Iyer is ruled out of IPL 2023 due to his back injury, the Kolkata Knight Riders might look towards either Shardul Thakur or Sunil Narine to lead KKR this year.

According to a report in the Times of India, KKR will soon announce their captain in a grand function, with their owner, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and an overseas pop star set to light up the occasion.

The new KKR captain will have to attend the IPL captains' meeting on March 30.

The Knight Riders open their IPL 2023 campaign with a game against Punjab Kings on April 1.
