Sunday afternoon began on an emotional note for the Tendulkar clan when Arjun made his debut for Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Following his maiden appearance, Arjun and his illustrious father Sachin Tendulkar became the first father-son pair to feature in the 15-year history of IPL, and that too for the same side.

And hours after Mumbai prevailed over KKR, the cricket maestro took to social media and penned a heartfelt note for his 23-year-old son.

Sachin wrote, ‘Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back.’

Wishing him the best, Sachin laid emphasis on the long hours put in by Arjun to earn his MI debut, ‘You have worked very hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so. This is the start of a beautiful journey. All the best!’
