While the majority of overseas stars will be available from the start of the IPL season, players from South Africa & Sri Lanka will miss the first few matches for their franchises.

The Proteas will be playing the remaining two ODIs from their Covid-interrupted series with the Netherlands till April 2. And the South Africans will be at full strength at home to give themselves the best chance of qualifying for the World Cup in India. A few of them will surely miss the first 2 matches for their franchises.

Three Sri Lankan stars too will be unavailable for initial rounds. Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB), Maheesh Theekshana & Matheesha Pathirana (both CSK) are currently in New Zealand. While all the IPL contracted Kiwi players aren’t a part of the series, the three Lankan stars are part of the limited-overs leg that only finishes on April 8.
