Despite Ruturaj Gaikwad's splendid performance, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni felt that the batsmen led the team down against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 opener.
While calling the young gun who smashed a 50-ball-92 brilliant, Dhoni criticised the middle-order batters. 'We all knew there will be dew, we could have done a bit more with the batsmanship', he said.
Apart from Gaikwad, none of the Chennai batters passed the 25-run mark as they lost the curtain raiser by 5 wickets.
