IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja hands Chennai Super Kings' captaincy duties to MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni returns as CSK skipper!

After 6 losses in IPL 2022, Ravindra Jadeja has decided to step down as the Chennai Super Kings' skipper, the franchise confirmed on Saturday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has led Chennai to 4 IPL titles has been appointed as the skipper again.

In their official statement, CSK said that Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game, the franchise added.

Jadeja who was appointed the skipper after MSD decided to give up the captaincy before the season began, has led the team to only 2 victories this season. Jadeja also struggled to perform in the ongoing edition. The 33-year-old all-rounder has only scored 112 runs in 8 matches and has taken 5 wickets. The defending champions are languishing at the 9th spot in the table.
