Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi on Monday said that Royal Challengers Bengaluru needs to be sold to a new owner after the Faf du Plessis-led team lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 25 runs in an IPL 2024 match in Bengaluru.
RCB have found the going tough in IPL 2024 as they are languishing at the bottom of the table with 2 points after losses in 6 out of 7 games.
On Monday, as RCB put up yet another hapless performance, Indian tennis great Mahesh Bhupathi penned a very heartfelt note on X.
"For the sake of the Sport, the IPL, the fans and even the players i think BCCI needs to enforce the Sale of RCB to a New owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so. #tragic," Mahesh Bhupathi posted on X.
Against SRH on Tuesday, RCB bowlers faltered big time as Hyderabad racked up a humongous score of 287 for 3. Travis Head scored the fourth-fastest IPL hundred to leave RCB in tatters. All the bowlers leaked runs, with Reece Topley, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson and Vijaykumar Vyshak conceding over 50 in their quota of 4 overs.
Later, Dinesh Karthik scored 83 runs at a strike rate of 237.14, but RCB lost by 25 runs as his efforts could only take his team to 262 for 7. RCB have their task cut out when they face Shreyas Iyer's KKR on Sunday, April 21 at the Eden Gardens.
