Punjab Kings' playoff hopes suffered a body blow after a 15-run loss against the Delhi Capitals on Wednesday night.
Asked to bat first, Delhi got off to a good start with openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw stitching up a 94-run opening stand.
While skipper David Warner departed for 46 runs, Prithvi Shaw scored a good 38-ball 54 on his return to the playing XI.
However, it was the swashbuckling innings of Rilee Rossouw, whose 37-ball 82* powered Delhi to 213/2 in the end, their first 200+ total this season.
Chasing a mammoth 214, skipper Shikhar Dhawan got out on for a golden duck, courtesy of Ishant Sharma.
Atharva Taide scored a gritty half century but struggling to keep up with the scoring rate, had to retire out.
Liam Livingstone though was at his destructive best, smashing sixes one after the other.
However, his fiery knock of 94 was not enough to take his team over the line, with Punjab falling short of the Delhi total by 15 runs.
The loss means Punjab are now staring at elimination and can only reach a maximum of 14 points.
They'll now have to win their next game by a huge margin and pray for all other results to go their way to have a chance of making it to the playoffs.
