13, 3 & 13 again!

Harry Brook’s scores in his first three IPL matches didn’t quite justify his auction price of ₹13.25 CR.

But Sunrisers just weren’t ready to give up on the English prodigy. And he repaid that faith with a sensational hundred against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the first century of IPL 2023.

Brook smashed a 55-ball hundred, a knock laced with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

His innings, combined with captain Aidan Markram’s fifty and Abhishek Sharma’s cameo propelled the Hyderabad franchise to a massive 228 at the Eden Gardens.

The celebration from Brook after getting to his hundred was more relief than anything else, after all carrying the tag of a ‘generational talent’ mustn’t be easy.

And his fantastic knock against the Knight Riders was a reminder that the 24-year-old belongs on the big stage.
