Rajasthan Royals took revenge for last season's final defeat from Gujarat Titans as they emerge victorious by 3 wickets in a high-octane clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Put into bat, Shubman Gill's cool demeanour in the face of adversity and skipper Hardik Pandya's quick understanding of the situation again came to the fore as their half-century stand helped Gujarat overcome the early slump.

In the death overs, when it mattered the most, a late flourish from David Miller and Abhinav Manohar propelled the home team to a challenging 177-7.

Chasing the tricky target, Rajasthan were off to the worst possible start, losing the openers inside third over itself.

With Royals reeling at 55-4 in the 11th over, Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer put up a counter-attacking 59-run stand to put Rajasthan in a commanding position.

However, Samson's dismissal at 60 runs did raise Gujarat's hope. But Hetmyer, who remained unbeaten on 26-ball 56, along with Dhruv Jurel and R Ashwin ensured Royals went over the line with 4 balls to spare.

This was Gujarat's first loss against Rajasthan in 4 games in Indian Premier League.
