India Secures Gold and Silver in Women's Junior Skeet at Asian Shooting

Shymkent, Kazakhstan, Aug 21 (PTI) – In a remarkable display, India's Mansi Raghuwanshi clinched the gold medal in the women's junior skeet at the Asian Shooting Championship, with compatriot Yashasvi Rathore securing the silver. This achievement marked a 1-2 finish for India in the event held on Thursday.

Mansi dominated the women's final by shooting a score of 53, narrowly surpassing Yashasvi's impressive 52. Kazakhstan's Lidiya Basharova secured the bronze with a score of 40. Meanwhile, India’s Agrima Kanwar finished sixth in the final round with a 15.

In the lead-up to the final, Mansi qualified in second place with a total score of 106 across five rounds, while Basharova led the qualifications with 112. Yashasvi secured her spot by finishing fifth in qualifications with a score of 102, and Agrima also made the cut with 101.

The junior men's skeet final also saw commendable performances by Indians. Harmehar Singh Lally earned the silver with a score of 53, losing to Kazakhstan's Artyom Sedelnikov who also shot 53, but won on countback. Jyotiraditya Singh Sisodiya bagged the bronze with a score of 43.

Earlier in the qualifications, Ishaan Singh Libra led with 116, followed by Harmehar in third with 115, and Jyotiraditya in fifth with 110. In the final, Ishaan concluded his performance with a sixth-place finish, scoring 14.

India's young shooters have indeed made the nation proud with their spectacular achievements in the Asian Shooting Championship.
