New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has given its official approval for India's bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games during a Special General Meeting (SGM) held here on Wednesday.

India has already expressed its interest in hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad proposed as the host city. The country is now required to submit the comprehensive bid proposals before the deadline on August 31.

The withdrawal of Canada from the contest has increased India's chances of securing the rights to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Recently, a delegation from Commonwealth Sport, led by its Director of Games, Darren Hall, visited Ahmedabad to assess the facilities and engage with Gujarat government representatives. A larger team from Commonwealth Sport is anticipated to visit the city later this month.

The final decision on the host for the 2030 Commonwealth Games will be made by the General Assembly of Commonwealth Sport at the end of November in Glasgow. India has the experience of hosting this prestigious multi-sport event once before, having organized the 2010 edition in Delhi.
