As India opted to bat first vs New Zealand in the ODI World Cup semifinal in Mumbai, it wasn't Rohit Sharma who turned up for the clash.
It was in fact the Hitman who took matters into his own hands and came out all guns blazing. Rohit made the bowlers look like headless Kiwis and smashed a fiery 29-ball-47.
His knock was laced with 4 fours and as many sixes. The Indian skipper also took his sixes count in World Cups to 51, the most by any cricketer in the history of the tournament. The record was previously held by Chris Gayle, who had 49 sixes.
Despite taking his side to a flying start, a selfless Rohit missed another chance to score a half-century. Sadly, he has never registered a score of over 50 in an ICC knockout match against any team other than Bangladesh.
Nevertheless, Rohit has smashed 1323 runs in his last 21 World Cup knocks at a whopping average of over 61. That includes 7 hundreds and 4 half-centuries.
