With the ODI World Cup taking place in a cricket-crazy nation like India, records were meant to take a tumble one day or the other.

The first 18 matches of ODI World Cup 2023 have seen 364.2 million viewers tune in to watch the matches, watching a combined 123.8 billion minutes of Disney Star’s live broadcast in India.

The record indicated a 43% growth compared to the 2019 tournament in England.

The viewing reached its peak during the India vs Pakistan match on October 14 when the concurrent viewing on DIsney+ Hotstar reached 43 million in the final overs of the match.

While the broadcast records have been quite impressive, there has been an increase in fans turning out for matches as well with 542,000 people having already attended the matches by the midpoint of the tournament, showing a 190,000 audience increase compared to the previous ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2019.
