Bengaluru, Aug 25 (PTI) - The Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) has announced a new one-time benefit of Rs 1 lakh for the spouses of its deceased members following approval from the BCCI.

This initiative seeks to extend financial support and recognition to the families of cricketers who have served the sport, during their difficult times.

According to an official release, this benefit is specifically designed for the spouses of deceased ICA members, excluding International Test Cricketers. Upon approval, eligible spouses will receive a lump sum payment of Rs. 1,00,000 (One Lakh Rupees).

The ICA's endeavor emphasizes their dedication to assisting cricketers' families well beyond their active playing careers, especially during moments of need.

Initially, about 50 beneficiaries are anticipated to avail of this assistance, ensuring rapid aid to those in need.

This benefit is set to be evaluated periodically and could be adjusted in line with the Board’s assessment. Furthermore, if the BCCI considers implementing a pension scheme for widows and widowers in the future, this policy may also undergo changes.
