New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) India pacer Harshit Rana is finding his rhythm in the ongoing Delhi Premier League, anticipating it to be the perfect groundwork for the upcoming Asia Cup, set to commence on September 9.

Rana's recent cricket journey took him to the UK as part of the Indian Test contingent following the India A shadow tour. His last outing in an Indian jersey was during the Champions Trophy in February.

“I've maintained my form and training. In the past three weeks, I have engaged in 12-13 T20 games, keeping my skills sharp with the DPL (Delhi Premier League) underway, along with rigorous team practice sessions,” Rana shared with PTI Videos. “My performance has been solid, and I feel good about my bowling.”

Rana is eagerly looking forward to teaming up with Jasprit Bumrah once more. With Bumrah available throughout the Asia Cup after managing his workload in England, playing three of the five Tests, Rana reflects on the impact his presence brings.

“Words can't capture what Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah) bhai contributes. Playing alongside him simplifies the game; his presence alleviates pressure on the rest of us. I focus on maintaining composure. Wearing the India jersey is always an invigorating experience, and the quality of our bowling unit boosts my morale. I strive to give my best without dwelling too much on the outcomes,” Rana stated.

Despite his enthusiasm, Rana is not anticipated to be in the starting lineup for the Asia Cup. The pace attack is likely to be led by Bumrah alongside Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Rana, who made a notable T20 debut for India against England in January 2025, securing figures of 3 for 33, knows there are practical hurdles to earning a spot.

His IPL stats this season include 15 wickets in 13 matches, with an average of 29.86 and an economy rate exceeding 10, leading to some debate over his Asia Cup selection.
