Fans at the Shree Kantiveera Stadium cheered on the Blue Tigers who defeated Kuwait 5-4 in the shootout to clinch South Asian Football federation (SAFF) Championships title for the ninth time.

The stadium broke in celebration as the Indian football fans sang AR Rehman's iconic track Maa Tujhe Salaam to laud India's exhilarating victory.

Indian Premier League team, Mumbai Indians shared a video on its social media handle that showed Chhetri and Co. thanking the fans who turned up in large numbers to support the football team in Bengaluru where the final happened.

This was the second time India won in the penalty shootout. They had made it to Tuesday's summit clash after beating Lebanon 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the semifinal on July 1. Sandhu had also made a crucial save in the shootout then.

For India, captain Sunil Chhetri, Sandesh Jhingan, Chhangte, Subasish Bose and Mahesh converted while Udanta Singh missed.
