The UEFA Champions League matchday 4 saw the underdogs rise to the occasion as Maccabi Haifa stunned visitors Juventus 2-0 on the night. This was Maccabi's first Champions League win since beating Man United 3-0 back in 2002.

The Parken Stadium in Copenhagen witnessed VAR take centrestage as Manchester City's Sergio Gomez was sent off in the first half which also saw Riyad Mahrez getting his spot kick saved by the keeper. 10-men Manchester City were eventually held to a 0-0 draw by the home side.

2-time winners Chelsea beat AC Milan, who also saw a red card given to former Blues man Fikayo Tomori in the 18th minute after which the visitors took a 2-0 lead courtesy of a Jorginho penalty and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to register a win at the San Siro.

Defending champions Real Madrid also managed to salvage a point against Shakhtar Donetsk with Antonio Rudiger rescuing a 1-1 draw for the defending champions with a goal deep into injury time.
