Senegalese star footballer Sadio Mane has won the prestigious African Footballer of the Year for the second time running.

The 30-year-old striker had won the award back in 2019 as well.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards ceremony was suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mane helped Senegal beat Egypt in this year's Africa Cup of Nations final by scoring the winning penalty in the shootout. The victory gave Senegal their first-ever continental title.

Mane who recently moved to Bayern Munich from Liverpool, thanked his countrymen and dedicated the award to the youth of his country.
