Kylian Mbappé looks to be a step closer to joining Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have made no secret of their desire to sign the forward, and a transfer saga that has spanned years may finally be at its end, as reported by the news agency Reuters.

If Mbappe decides to make a move to Real Madrid then it will be a huge success for them as it would be on a free transfer. Notably, the 2018 World Cup winner had earlier quashed the rumours of joining the English club Liverpool.

The decision not to renew his contract with PSG, which he announced last year, set the stage for a free transfer, allowing Mbappe to embark on a new chapter without a transfer fee. Reports indicate that Mbappe is expected to announce a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid imminently, marking a significant coup for the La Liga giants.

Mbappé has had an incredible time at PSG, having scored over 230 goals in over 284 appearances, and his departure is expected to severely hurt the team. With 20 goals in 19 games this season, he now leads the Ligue 1 2023–24 goal scorer.

In the meantime, PSG is at the top of the current Ligue 1 2023–24.
