La Liga side Barcelona who wanted Lionel Messi to return have wished good luck to the 35-year-old on his decision of joining Major League Soccer's Inter Miami.
Camp Nou in a statement said that they were informed about the decision by the Argentine great's father Jorge Messi and his agent. While the contract has not been signed yet, Messi told a Spanish news outlet that he is considering joining Inter Miami over returning to Barcelona.
The Spanish side who parted ways with Messi in 2021 said that President Joan Laporte understood and respected Messi's decision to want to compete in a league with fewer demands, further away from the spotlight and the pressure he has been subjected to in recent years.
Messi in his interview had accepted that if Barcelona did not work out he would leave Europe and would then work on shifting his focus towards his family.
Inter Miami is partially owned by former footballer David Beckham and is currently languishing at the bottom of the MLS table.
