Gianni Infantino: FIFA Club World Cup to feature 32 teams from 2025

FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced that 32 teams will feature in Men’s Club World Cup in 2025.

The 2025 Club World Cup would be the inaugural edition. It was to be held earlier but got postponed due to Covid-19. In 2021 the event did not happen to accommodate Euro and the Copa. 

In a press conference in Doha, Gianni said, 'the details of the location and so on still need to be discussed, agreed and decided, but the 32-team tournament will go ahead, making it really like a World Cup, he said 

Infantino who shared his detailed wish list to create and revamp FIFA events further added that the football body would also review the format of the group phase of the next World Cup in 2026. 

He also lauded the organisers of Qatar 2022 and went on to call it the ‘best-ever World Cup’.
Infantino called it a success on all fronts and added that the main was 'from the aspect of the fans, the behavior, the joyful atmosphere, the bringing of people together’. 

The Arab nation had spent over $220 billion to host the mega event.
