Argentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez was ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after suffering a muscle injury five days before their game against Saudi Arabia.
He will be replaced by Atletico de Madrid's Angel Correa.
The Argentine Football Association reported on Thursday that the Fiorentina footballer was injured in their first training session in Doha.
Gonzalez has had physical problems since October.
He also did not play on Wednesday, in the last friendly match before the World Cup against the United Arab Emirates.
Gonzalez was alternating as a starter in the team with the veteran Angel Di Maria.
Correa, who plays for Atlético de Madrid and was a member of the team that won Copa America last year, had fought for a spot on the squad until the last moment.
Argentina open their World Cup campaign on November 22nd against Saudi Arabia in Group C, which also includes Mexico and Poland.
