English club Manchester United avoided real embarrassment with a late 1-0 victory over Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League.

Substitute Scott McTominay saved United the blushes with a 93rd-minute winner in a game that saw the Red Devils attempt 34 shots in total - the highest in a Europa League game this season.

United were wasteful all through the game, with Marcus Rashford alone failing to score from his 10 shots. Omonia’s stand-in goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was outstanding, making 12 saves in total but United’s finishing was simply horrendous till their injury-time winner.

The Old Trafford side stays 2nd in the group behind Real Sociedad.

Premier League leaders Arsenal too notched up a 1-0 win against Bodo/Glimt to continue their winning run in the competition.

The ever-impressive Bukayo Saka got the all-important goal for the Gunners to end the Norwegian team’s 14-game winning streak at home in Europe.
