Defending champions Real Madrid maintain their strong footing as the Spanish side beat a diffident Chelsea 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal at Santiago Bernabeu.

While Karim Benzema with his goal in the 21st minute put Chelsea under pressure, the job became harder when Ben Chilwell was shown a red card in the second half after he pulled Rodrygo from behind while running toward the goal.

Marco Asensio piled more miseries on their Premier League opposition with a goal in the 74th minute as Chelsea registered their 4th straight loss across competitions for the first time since December 1993.

Meanwhile, Napoli missed their injured star striker Victor Osimhen dearly as the Serie A table leaders had to face defeat in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal. While Ismail Bennacer scored the first-half winner, Napoli's Frank Anguissa was given a red card in the 2nd half at San Siro.
