After going down in its opening game vs Napoli, it seemed that Liverpool's wait for its first Champions League victory this season would get longer but Joel Matip saved his side the blemishes.

Mohammed Salah put the Reds ahead in the 17th minute with his 34th goal for Liverpool in the Champions League. But Mohammed Kudus equalised just 10 minutes later.

The scoreline remained 1-1 till the 89th minute and it seemed that the 2 sides would share points before Matip's header in the dying minutes earned Liverpool its first victory of the new Champions League season.
