Despite an appeal by Celtic F.C., a fan group displayed Palestine flags before a Champions League clash between Celtic and Atletico Madrid at Celtic Park on October 25.

A sea of green, black and red was observed before kick-off as the the Green Brigade defied the club and showed support for Palestine.

Disciplinary action against Celtic by the European governing body UEFA is likely following this display.

Before the game, the football club had appealed to its supporters that 'banners, flags and symbols relating to the conflict and those countries involved in it are not displayed at Celtic Park at this time.'

It had also mentioned in its statement that players and staff from both the teams would sport black armbands as a mark of respect for those affected by the war.

The club added it 'recognises that our supporters hold personal views to which everyone is entitled', but 'Celtic Park is where we come to support our football club.'

The fan group has been banned from Celtic's away games after a show of solidarity for Palestine during the club's match vs Kilmarnock in Glasgow two weeks ago.
