French forward Antoine Griezmann has returned to his former club Atletico Madrid from FC Barcelona on a permanent deal.

The 31-year-old has re-signed for Atletico Madrid till 2026, having been on loan from FC Barcelona since August 2021.

Griezmann was signed by FC Barcelona for a hefty amount of €120 Million back in 2019 but struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou.

He is a key figure in coach Diego Simeone's team and had been forcefully reduced to a substitute in most of the games this season, all due to the reported €40 million fee Atletico had to pay Barcelona if Griezmann played more than 45 minutes in more than 50% of their games.

"I’m very happy because it’s what I wanted since I returned. To stay at Atletico, enjoy being at the club, with the coach, my teammates, the stadium, the fans, I did everything possible to stay here," Griezmann said in his interview.
