The football World Cup in Qatar to begin a day earlier than scheduled as FIFA is reportedly set to move the start date of the event to allow the host nation to play the opening game on Sunday, November 20th.

The competition is scheduled to begin with the Netherlands and Senegal playing at Al Thumama Stadium on Monday, November 21st.

Qatar's opening match against Ecuador is scheduled for the same day at Al Bayt Stadium, however, it's understood the hosts now want to play exclusively first, as has become the tradition in recent tournaments.

The Bureau of the FIFA Council must still approve the move, but it's understood there is unlikely to be any opposition.

The competition will conclude with the final on December 18th.
