PV Sindhu completed what she couldn't in the 2018 edition as the ace Indian shuttler beat Michelle Li of Canada 21-15, 21-13 to clinch the gold medal in badminton women's singles at Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG).

World number 7, Sindhu came into the final having dropped just one game and clinched her maiden CWG gold with a flawless performance.

With the win, Sindhu also extended her head-to-head lead against 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Michelle Li to 9-2. Interestingly, both of Li's wins over Sindhu come at the 2014 CWG. Sindhu had to settle for a bronze in Glasgow and upgraded to a silver 4 years later in Gold Coast when she went down against Saina Nehwal in the women's singles final.

Super Sindhu finally changed the colour of her medal to gold in Birmingham.
