Yuzvendra Chahal becomes joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL history

The prolific Rajasthan Royals' spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's fine effort though went in vain, the 32-year-old has still managed to achieve a personal milestone after picking a terrific 4-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won the dramatic game by 4-wickets in Jaipur. 

After removing Hyderabad's Anmolpreet Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram, Chahal became the joint highest wickettaker in the history of the Indian Premier League. He equalled former Chennai Super Kings' cricketer and West Indian Dwayne Bravo's record of 183 wickets. 

Chahal achieved the feat in 142 matches at an economy rate of 8.08 with an average of 19.41. Meanwhile, in the list of top 5, there are 4 Indians --Piyush Chawla with 174, Amit Mishra 172 and Ravichandran Ashwin with 171 wickets in teh 5th spot. This year, Yuzi has so far taken 17 wickets in 11 matches and is currently the 5th highest wickettaker of the ongoing 2023 season. 

Meanwhile, Abdul Samad's six off the last ball, which was a result of a no-ball helped Sunrisers Hyderabad defeat Rajasthan Royals by four wickets to keep their playoff hopes alive in a high-scoring IPL thriller on Sunday.

Brief scores: Rajasthan Royals: 214 for 2 in 20 overs (Jos Buttler 95, Sanju Samson 66 not out; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/44).

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 217 for 6 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 55; Yuzvendra Chahal 4/29).
