Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker passed away at the age of 20, the County Cricket Club revealed in a statement on Thursday.

The club refused to divulge details regarding the reason behind his death while requesting privacy for the 20-year-old spinner's family.

Ashley Giles, the Worcestershire chief said that the club was devastated by Baker's death adding, 'Josh was much more than a teammate. he was an integral part of our cricket family. We will all miss him terribly. All our love and prayers go out to Josh's family and friends.'

Baker signed up with Worcestershire in 2021 when he was 17-years-old.

Since then, he has taken 43 wickets from 22 first-class matches and 27 from white-ball games.

He was developing as an all-rounder as well, having smashed a career-best 75 vs Gloucestershire in July 2023.

Baker has also represented England at the Under-19 level.
