The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru erupted as soon as Virat Kohli was welcomed on stage during the high-profile RCB unbox event on Tuesday night.
Kohli, when referred to as 'the King', felt embarrassed and asked host Danish Sait and the fans to stop calling him that.
"Let me talk. Guys, we have to get to Chennai tonight. We have a chartered flight so we don't have time (laughs). Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word [King]. I was telling Faf that it is very embarrassing for me when you call me that name every year, just call me Virat."
"How is the King feeling?," asked the host to which Virat replaied by saying, "It is lovely to be back again."
The crowd went crazy just by hearing Kohli speak, not letting the former RCB skipper say anything further.
After a while Virat said, "Let me talk. Guys, we have to get to Chennai tonight. We have a chartered flight so we don't have time (laughs). Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word [King]. I was telling Faf that it is very embarrassing for me when you call me that name every year, just call me Virat."
Virat has been with RCB since the start of the IPL in 2008 and will kick-start his 17th edition with the franchise as Bengaluru open their IPL 2024 campaign against the Chennai Super Kings on Friday.
