Speculations of Virat Kohli not joining Team India ahead of the 1st Test vs South Africa were put to rest on Sunday as the former India skipper has rejoined the Test squad.
A senior BCCI official told News18 that Virat wasn't going to play the Intra-squad practice game. The team management was aware of his plan and schedule, and it didn't happen overnight or due to a family emergency.
'Look at the player in question, it's Virat Kohli. He is very well planned when it comes to these things and his London trip was communicated and planned well in advance,' the source said.
'Kohli left India for South Africa on December 15. Had good 3-4 training sessions before he went to London on December 19. For the next few days, he was in London and has now linked up with the Test squad and will in all likelihood train in Centurion tomorrow,' the official added.
The reports had earlier suggested that Virat came back to India due to a family emergency but according to News18, he was in London with wife Anushka Sharma.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will have a morning training session on December 24 and an afternoon session on December 25 before the Boxing-Day Test begins on December 26 in Centurion.
