Under-fire Pakictan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf, was granted a 3-month extension by the Caretaker Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the patron of PCB, Mr Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.

Making the decision public through a press release on Saturday, the PCB said, 'Zaka Ashraf-led PCB Management Committee was formed in July 2023 for a four-month period, and the Caretaker Prime Minister, using his prerogative, has given a three-month extension.'

Zaka Ashraf has been leading the PCB Management Committee since July 2023.

With the Test tour to Australia coming up, indications are clear that he will be going for a new captain and new team management.

A lot depends on whether Pakistan, through some miracle, manages to reach the semifinals of the World Cup.

According to PTI sources, one also couldn’t rule out chances of Shahid Afridi being named interim PCB chairman.

With general elections announced for February 8, it is expected that whoever forms the new government will bring his people into the PCB.
