In a historic move, Cricket South Africa became the third country to announce equal pay for its cricketers.

Players, male and female, representing South Africa in international matches will be given equal match fees, the cricket governing board announced on August 22.

South Africa's decision comes months after the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that men's and women's teams would receive equal prize money at ICC events.

The decision will be implemented from September when South Africa Women tour Pakistan.

Earlier, New Zealand and India had announced pay parity across men’s and women’s teams.
