Marnus Labuschagne who has been surprisingly left out of the 15-member World Cup squad showcased his flair as he led Australia to a nail-biting 3-wicket win in the first ODI in South Africa.

For the 29-year-old, Cameron Green's concussion which he picked during the match proved to be a blessing in disguise. The experienced batter grabbed the chance with both hands to remind the Australian selection committee of what they might have missed while picking the World Cup squad.

Australians who at one point were 7 wickets down and faced the challenging task of scoring 110 more runs, snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat. Labuschagne, Green's concussion substitute smashed a fighting 80* alongside Ashton Agar who scored an unbeaten 48, and together they did the unthinkable as the visitors won with 58 balls to spare.

South Africa who were asked to bat were steered by Temba Bavuma'a 114, who became only the 13th player to carry his bat through. But all that went in vain as Australia took a 1-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series.
