As the BCCI looks for a perfect candidate to fill up the vacant post of chief selector, he is likely to give a nod to Team India's transition plan post the ODI World Cup this year.
A senior BCCI official told InsideSport that one of the jobs of the chief selector is to speak to the players about their future plans and Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not immune to that.
'Yes, we would have wanted to continue as long as they want. But all great players have a time to consider their plans. Playing three formats and IPL won’t be an easy job,' he added.
The plan is to have a core team of 20 players for T20 World Cup 2024 and Hardik Pandya is likely to be handed over captaincy duties in white ball cricket.
However, it’s unlikely that Rohit would feature in the plans. But there is still a possibility for Kohli, considering his fitness.
