On one of the disappointing nights at Old Trafford, Manchester United suffered their first defeat under manager Ralf Rangnick as Wolverhampton edged out the home side 1-0 in a Premier League game.
Wolves came out attacking in the first half and registered record 15 shots on target in the opening 45 minutes against out-of-sorts United. Though they failed to break the deadlock as the teams went into half-time 0-0.
Wolves continued their forward play in the second half too but it seemed the Red Devils would snatch a draw at least. However, the visiting side was finally rewarded for their positive play in the 82nd minute when Joao Moutinho scored the only goal of the match from outside the box.
This was Wolves first win at Old Trafford since 1980 which also snapped Manchester United's five-match unbeaten run under manager Ralf Rangnick.
After the defeat, United remained at seventh place with 31 points, four points behind Arsenal, who presently occupy the fourth Champions League slot. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton moved to eighth place with 28 points in 19 games.
