5-time ODI World Cup winners Australia will start their campaign in India as a strong contender for the title under the captaincy of Pat Cummins.

Having won the T20 World Cup 2021 in Asian conditions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Indian conditions aren't alien to them. Combined with the experience of playing in the IPL for a number of their players, Australia could pose a formidable challenge in the ODI World Cup.

The chosen Australian team ticks all the boxes, be it the batting or the bowling department. The team is also filled with several talented all-rounders in Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh. Travis Head has been named in the squad but he will miss almost half of the tournament due to a fractured hand.

Australia has big power-hitters in the top order with the likes of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh who have the ability to take the game away from the opposition early on. The class of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne will also come in handy in the middle overs.

In-form wicketkeeper-batter player Alex Carey adds to their batting firepower.

Australia have got world-class fast bowlers in Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins himself, while the spin department will be led by the wily Adam Zampa.

Australia ODI World Cup 2023 Squad:

Pat Cummins (c), Steve Smith, Alex Carey, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc.
