Ever since the ICC released the schedule for ODI World Cup 2023, not just fans but some state ministers were also left appalled by Ahmedabad getting a lot more matches to host than other venues.

The opening match of the tournament will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, along with the India vs Pakistan clash on October 15. In fact, it will also host the ODI World Cup final.

However, the exclusion of certain major venues has left officials disappointed.

Presidents of Indore's Holkar Stadium and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association expressed their regrets about not being included.

Similarly, Mohali, which has been hosting World Cup matches since 1996 was also left out. Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer suggested that politics might have played a role in the decision.

However, vice president of the BCCI Rajeev Shukla explained that the decision was not solely within their control.
