Delhi's iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium is getting major renovations as preparations are underway to host 5 ODI World Cup 2023 matches.

The stadium has often been criticised for its lack of basic hygiene and seating arrangements, but it will now receive an investment of ₹20 to 25 crore to enhance its facilities.

BCCI conducted an assessment in April and found Delhi, along with Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Mohali, as venues requiring major improvements.

'Planned upgrades include the replacement of around 10,000 spectator seats, renovated washrooms, improved paintwork, and changes in the ticketing software. The DDCA aims to complete all the renovations by September 15,' joint secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, Rajan Manchanda said.

India will play its World Cup game against Afghanistan at this venue Delhi on October 11.
