With KL Rahul set to miss the first two Team India games in the Asia Cup due to injury, there are questions being asked of the Indian selectors on why he was named in India's squad in the first place.
Former Indian cricketer Mohd Kaif too voiced his opinion on Rahul's injury saga.
The former India batter lamented the 31-year-old's absence while speaking to broadcaster Star Sports, stating, 'If he is unfit now, there is no guarantee that he will be fit after two games. The news is not good for Indian fans because Rahul plays very well at No. 5 in ODIs. His stats are very good.'
Irrespective of his form, Rahul has been a major source of support for Team India in the ODI format, especially at number 5.
In 18 matches at the 5th position, Rahul has amassed 742 runs at an average of 53 and strike rate of 99.33.
Rahul has achieved all his personal best numbers while batting on this position for Team India including a 112 off 113 balls.
