KL Rahul named ODI captain, Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli to only play Tests | India squads for South Africa

BCCI has announced the squads for Team India's tour of South Africa which consists of 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests starting December 10.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have only been included in the 2-match Test series and hence are rested from white ball formats for the tour.

Both Rohit and Virat had requested the board for a break from the white ball leg of the tour.

Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul have been given captaincy roles in T20Is and ODIs respectively despite earlier reports that Rohit Sharma might make a return to the T20 side.

Shreyas Iyer made his return in the Test side with the notable absentees coming in the form of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane who will be absent in the Test XI for the first time since the 2010 Test series.

Sanju Samson and Rajat Patidar have been included in the 3-match ODI series as well. Yuzvendra Chahal also makes a return to the ODI squad after missing out on the ODI World Cup 2023 squad earlier.
