Former Australian coach Justin Langer has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants.

While there have been murmurs about his appointment in the media, the franchise confirmed the news an hour after announcing they are parting ways with Andy Flower, who served as the head coach for the last two seasons.

Langer won the 2021 T20 World Cup with the Australian team as head coach. He also has won multiple Big Bash titles with the Perth Scorchers.

“Lucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL. We all have a role to play in that journey and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward,” Langer said after his appointment.

While the Lucknow franchise has reached the playoffs on both occasions since their inception, they will be hoping Langer can guide them to the title this time around.
