Rovman Powell emerged as the surprise buy from the first set of players as franchises went shopping at the IPL 2024 Auction on Tuesday in Dubai.

Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders were involved in a bidding war for the West Indian before the Royals bought him for ₹7.40 crore.

Australia's World Cup final hero Travis Head went to the Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹6.80 crore.

England's power hitter Harry Brook went to the Delhi Capitals for ₹4 crore.

Indian batter Karun Nair along with Australia's Steve Smith failed to find any bidders. (Manish Pandey and Rilee Rossouw were picked later in the auction).
