IPL 2022: Royal Challengers Bangalore appoint Faf du Plessis as their new captain

Royal Challengers Bangalore has appointed Faf du Plessis as their new skipper ahead of the start of IPL 2022. RCB bought du Plessis for Rs 7 crore during IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

The former South African captain will take over the captaincy from Virat Kohli, who resigned from RCB captaincy at the end of IPL 2021.

Faf du Plessis has played 100 IPL matches so far and scored 2935 runs at a strike of 131.08. He has smashed 22 fifties with 96 being his highest individual score in Indian Premier League. 

The former South African captain was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fold in the previous two seasons and played many match-winning knocks for Chennai.
