India have announced their T20I squad for the 5-match series against the West Indies that starts later this month.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli & India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah have been rested from the tour of the West Indies and the USA in its entirety. Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal has also been given a break from the T20Is.

Meanwhile, vice-captain KL Rahul and spinner Kuldeep Yadav have both been named in the squad, subject to fitness. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was dropped from the side after the T20 World Cup debacle last year, has also been included in the squad.

The big surprise though came in the form of Umran Malik, who failed to make the cut after a few below-par performances with the ball. His economy of 12.44 in his 3 T20Is made it difficult for the selectors to pick him ahead of Arshdeep Singh, who impressed in his lone outing in England.
The 5-match T20I series begins on July 29.

India's T20I squad for the WI tour: Rohit Sharma (C), I Kishan, KL Rahul*, Suryakumar Yadav, D Hooda, S Iyer, D Karthik, R Pant, H Pandya, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, R Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, B Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.

*Inclusion of KL Rahul & Kuldeep Yadav is subject to fitness.
