South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock has annonced a shock and immediate retirement form Test cricket after South Africa lost the 1st Test in Centurion to India on Thursday. The decision was announced right after the Test match got over which saw Team India register a historic win in Centurion in Test cricket to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

In a statement, de Kock announced that he wants to spend time with his family as he and partner are expecting the birth of their first child. The decision comes months after Quinton de Kock had mysteriously made himself unavailable to play for South Africa at the World T20 due to conflict with the board. There are various reports that the wicketkeeper batter was forced to retire from Tests due to continued conflicts with the board.
In 54 Tests since his debut in 2014, de Kock has 3300 runs and 6 hundreds while playing for South Africa. QDK has also assured his fans that he will continue to play for South Africa in ODIs and T20s.
