When Todd Murphy was handed his Baggy Green on Day 1 of the Nagpur Test, it came as a surprise for many cricket pundits. After all, the Australians had decided to go with two regular off-spinners despite having variety and experience in their squad.
But the 22-year-old wasn't in the syllabus for Team India. The Victorian rattled India's batting line-up, picking up key wickets of KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, R Ashwin and KS Bharat.
With his five-wicket haul on debut, Murphy became the second Australian spinner after Jason Krejza to take a fifer on debut in India.

Interestingly, both Murphy and Krejza registered the feat in Nagpur only.
He became the fourth Australian spinner to take a 5-wicket haul on debut and the 9th Kangaroo bowler overall to achieve the feat.
Before getting his Test cap, Murphy had snaffled 29 wickets in 10 first-class matches.
